Budapest is a wonderful city and in the summer you will find it beautiful and green. The city is very picturesque, full of art, full of wonderful buildings and houses with a heavy trace of the history when Hungary was a lot bigger than today and the centre of European culture.
It’s a fairly green city and built around the massive Donau that splits the city in two, the two old cities of Buda and Pest. On the Buda side, you will find the beautiful Gellért Mountain and the hill with the massive castle construction.
The view from the top is just amazing and worth the walk.On the Pest side of the city, you will find the beautiful Parliament.
The walking street Váci almost next to Donau on the Pest side is nice and full of restaurants in one end and shops in the other end.
They have a big indoor market Központi Vásárcsarnok which has wonderful fruit, vegetables, sausages and spices. It is well worth purchasing some authentic Hungarian paprika!
On the first floor, you will find all the souvenirs you can imagine. Remember to buy some sausages which are nice to have when you come home and have forgotten the scents of the city.
It is also recommended to walk down the Váci to Vörösmarty ter and then along the Danube and cross it at the Chain Bridge. From here, take the cable trolley Sikló from Clark Adam ter up to Buda and then enjoy the walk down from the castle hill towards the river again.
